There are three major role players involved in this.
  • Rural Communities: Various requests are received at Transnet Foundation throughout the year to consider specific stops.
  • Department of Health provides Transnet Foundation with information of where Phelophepa can render support to them.
  • Transnet Freight Rail indicates what railway lines are available and safe for Phelophepa.
With all the above in mind, 36 stops for each year are then scheduled.

Transnet Foundation has, since the inception of Phelophepa in 1994, established a sustainable and good working relationship with the Department of Health. Their officials guide us to ensure that all Phelophepa operations are aligned with health legislation and protocol. In addition the Phelophepa staff refers patients requiring further attention back to clinics and hospitals and all referrals are followed up from both sides.
